Up next in our Meet the Team series is Romain, our Software and Firmware Engineer who's been with Lynk Remote Technologies since the beginning!

Where are you from + where are you located currently?

I’m from France, but I now live in Canada. More specifically, I’m from Nantes, which is a mid-sized city close to the west coast of France. And I now live in Montréal, Québec.

When did you first join Lynk Remote Technologies?

I first started doing some work for LRT in 2016. The company was pretty much just an idea in Morgan’s (our company's president) head at the time.

What is your position? Your tasks and responsibilities?

Position: Software and Firmware Engineer

The two areas where I spend the most time are developing software tools to facilitate production and build systems for firmware development.

If you could write your own job title that best describes what you do here, what would it be?

I’d self-describe as a continuous integration and continuous development geek.

Favorite TV Shows or Movies pertaining to your position?

My recommendation would be Expert C Programming: Deep C Secrets from Peter Van Der Linen. This is a must for anyone that needs to navigate large, legacy C code bases. Also, Martin Reddy’s API Design for C++ is a great book, full of very good advice for people that are getting started in library development.

What are your credentials/past experience, for working in your position?

I’ve worked as a software engineer for 7 years, with a focus on driver and embedded development.

What do you enjoy doing when you are not working?

I love skiing and playing badminton.

Who has influenced you most when it comes to how you approach your work?

I was very influenced by Sean Parent. His “Better Code” presentations are gems for anyone looking to become a better programmer.

What do you like most about your job?

I love creating tools that people love to use and can depend on.
