Making the Most of Your Hangar This Summer
Despite it feeling like just yesterday that we were fighting off the cold, summer’s official start is right around the corner. It’s hard to believe we’ve already made it halfway through another year, and we’re all excited to finally enjoy the warm days, clear skies and starry nights we’ve missed so much.
Some of us are still coasting out of winter, so it’s easy to lose the energetic spark where you hold your pride and joy, but don’t worry, we’re here to help you get back on course. And, to celebrate the soon-to-be sunny days, we wanted to inspire you with our favorite way to spend time in the place we know best.

Making the Most of Your Hangar This Summer
Having a large, open space to work with can lead to plenty of interesting ways to bring some life back to your hangar. So this week, let’s start with the most obvious of all, converting your hangar into a movie theater!
Even if you have a home theater, it’s hard to recreate the experience you get from a full-fledged movie theater. A major reason for this, apart from the screen size, is the lofty atmosphere that can make the action on screen feel larger than life. Thanks to your hangar, making this happen is no big feat and can be done with a quick trip to the nearest electronic store.
Turning Your Hangar Into A Movie Theater
The three major components we need to put our theater together are:
- A Projector
- Streaming Device
- Speakers
For A Projector: Take advantage of your big walls with the use of a projector. These may or may not have been on your wishlist a couple years back, but nowadays, projectors come with most of the features your TV does: HDMI inputs, 4K, all in a quiet, convenient box. We suggest this one. Not only is it Amazon’s Choice, it’s a better, brighter projector compared to most competitors, despite the cheaper cost and 1080P resolution.
For A Streaming Device: To get you up and running with your favorite streaming service like Hulu or Netflix, or to let you rewatch your favorite series or season of Game of Thrones, you’ll need to pick up something to connect your projector to your favorite apps. While there’s competing devices, like Amazon’s Fire Stick, we think Chromecast provides a better experience. Plus, you can pick them up nearly anywhere, including this link.
For Your Speakers: Most projectors come with speakers, but for top notch audio - it’s good to get a set of speakers to complete your hangar’s makeover! Hooking these up can depend on the projector you purchased, with most of them including an auxiliary or audio output and some including bluetooth to connect to more portable speakers. To bring the party home, too, the later can be really helpful.
For an easy wired input we suggest these THX-certified speakers by Logitech but when it comes to a Bluetooth option - nothing can beat the Bose Soundlink Mini.
Making Your Theater Better With HangarBot
The core pieces are here, but you’ll still need some sort of internet connectivity to put it all together. Unfortunately this can be a problem -- not every hangar offers Wi-Fi. There are options, like using an external harddrive - but why limit yourself? Luckily there are devices available that can bring the internet to you no matter where you are, and HangarBot can help.
Apart from being able to create wireless hotspots for you to stream your favorite videos to complete your movie theater setup, HangarBot can do so much more, such as secure your new-found theater 24/7. Additionally, you can get motion alerts sent directly to your phone, remotely view your hangar via the HangarBot device and record actions happening around the theater.
Enjoying Your Newly Secured Private Theater
Once you’re up and running, you can start making the most of your space and have another reason to spend more time in your hangar (as if we needed another one). Speaking of space, we recommend making your first viewing an out-of-this-world experience, and there’s no better way to take advantage of your big screen than Interstellar.
Always remember, keeping your feet on the ground is just as important as your head in the clouds. So take a minute to pull up a chair, kick back and invite some friends over to watch a few classics on your new big screen.
